Family Medicine Residency Program
With the help of donor support and grant funding, John Muir Health launched its first medical training program in affiliation with UCSF. The Family Medicine Residency Program addresses two of the toughest challenges in health care today: the shortage of primary care doctors and gaps in access to health care.
The John Muir Health Family Medicine Residency Program (FMRP) addresses two of the toughest challenges in health care today: the shortage of primary care doctors and gaps in access to health care.
The FMRP provides hands-on training for the primary care physicians of tomorrow, while also meeting the basic health care needs of underserved populations in our community.
Generous donor support in 2015 helped activate the FMRP including a $2 million gift from the Thomas J. Long Foundation and $4 million in pooled contributions from John Muir Health Foundation’s general fund, with gifts from individual donors ranging from $5 to $25,000.
Today, the community continues to support the program through individual giving and generous grant funding, including Song Brown Healthcare Workforce Training, CalMedForce, and Health Net.
